In India, weddings are one of the most celebrated special occasions. If you have ever attended an Indian wedding, you would know exactly why they call it a ‘big fat Indian wedding’. An Indian wedding usually goes on for several days and the wedding guests are treated with emotions and love. While few Indians marry secretly with the presence of their close ones, other Indians don’t miss a chance to celebrate with all that they have.

Here is the countdown of Indian weddings that were so expensive, that they totally redefine the ‘big’ and ‘fat’ of the Indian weddings. And these are not Bollywood celebrities weddings.

The CEO of Marigold Group, Gaurav Assomull, and Kajal Fabiani’s wedding took place in Monaco, Europe in 2011. The luxurious hotels were selected all over Monaco. The Sangeet Ceremony was performed by Sukhbir and also a hip-hop concert was performed by Akon. The guests at the wedding were treated to a four-course dinner.

The American Hotelier and once an actor, Vikram Chatwal got married to model and investment banker, Priya Sachdev in 2006. The wedding was a luxurious event; the Chatwal Family arranged private jets to pick up their guest from different corners of the world. The special guests of the evening were Naomi Campbell, King Khan, Laxmi Mittal, Prince Nicolas of Greece and the son of the late Shah of Iran. 50,000 kilos of flowers and 3000 candles were used for the decoration of the wedding venue.

The wedding of GVK Group’s GV Krishna Reddy’s granddaughter, Mallika Reddy with Siddharth Reddy was no less than a Bollywood wedding. To make chandeliers for the wedding, real jasmine flowers were used. Amitabh Bachchan attended the wedding and it is also said that they were many elegant designers present under one roof. The wedding created a big buzz all over Twitter and India.

The wedding of the Real Estate developer Basant Bansal’s daughter, Payal Bansal with Deepak Kanodia was a high-budget fancy wedding held in Turkey. There was a special performance by the Bollywood celebrities like Celina Jaitley and Eesha Koppikhar. Almost 30 cooks and 130 assistants were flown to Turkey so that all the guests are greeted with authentic Indian cuisine. Also, many Indian decorators were also taken to Turkey to decorate the wedding venue with flowers.

5. Vineeta Agarwal weds Muqit Teja

The wedding of the UK based billionaire, Pramod Agarwal’s Daughter, Vineeta Agarwal with Muqit Teja was a huge glamorous wedding. The Agarwal’s chose the 17 acres of San Clemente Island as the wedding venue. The major highlight of the wedding was the performance of Colombian singer, ‘Shakira’.

The Congress minister, Kanwar Singh Tanwar’s son’s wedding to Yogita Jaunapuria took place at Delhi in 2011. The highlight of the wedding was the gift that the broom received from his in-laws. It was a Bell 429 helicopter.

The CEO of ArcelorMittal, Lakshmi Mittal’s daughter, Vanisha Mittal got married to Amit Bhatia in the year 2004 in Versailles. The wedding took place at the Palace of Versailles and the highlight of the wedding was that it was the only private event that took place inside the Palace. Many celebrities attended the wedding. The celebrities like Akshay Kumar, Juhi Chawla, Saif Ali Khan, Shah Rukh Khan, Kylie Minogue, Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, and Rani Mukherjee performed at the wedding. The whole dance performance was choreographed by Farah Khan.

2. Shrishti Mittal weds Gulraj Behl

We guess the Mittal’s are fond of big weddings. The wedding of Lakshmi Mittal’s Niece, Shrishti Mittal took place in Barcelona at the National Museum of Catalan Art atop a hill. Just like the other Mittal wedding, over 200 chefs, butlers, and assistants were flown in from India and Thailand. The wedding cake was a six-tier 60 kilos cake.

In 2004, the weddings of Subrata Roy’s sons, Sushanto with Richa and Seemanto with Chandni took place. The wedding venue was the Sahara Auditorium in Lucknow and the wedding dresses were from famous designers like Rohit Bal and Sabyasachi Mukherjee. The decoration of the venue was done using mashals, torch lights, wax lights and prism glasses. For the food, there were 110 types of dishes from across the world. Many celebrities and business tycoons like Amitabh Bachchan, Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, Kapil Dev, Anil Ambani, etc were present for the wedding ceremony.

This is the list of blockbuster and most expensive Indian weddings, whose expenses stun every other Indian.
